At CyLock we rely on the new, international mobile network standard ‘Narrow Band IoT’ – short ‘NB IoT’.
NB IoT – What is it ?
NB IoT (Narrow Band IoT) is the new mobile communication standard of mobile network operators for “Internet of Things” applications – based upon GSM network. It is also an EU-wide mobile network standard, so that in the foreseeable future, the module can be deployed and used throughout whole Europe.
Overview of countires to use CyLock
What advantages does NB IoT offer compared to “previous” mobile network technology (GSM)?
The CyLock module takes advantage of the benefits offered by this new mobile radio standard. These include in particular a factor 100 lower energy consumption compared to previous GSM mobile applications, a factor 100 better reception quality of the mobile signals (which is particularly relevant for receiving signals in underground car parks etc.) or new functions possible in the near future, such as position determination without a GPS signal – which further reduces the energy consumption of CyLock and is also relevant for locating objects in closed rooms or buildings.
Only with this new technology is it even possible to install CyLock invisibly in the handlebars. Previous alarm and tracking solutions with GPS positioning technology must be installed as “add-on parts” on the bicycle – these are therefore not as “tamper-proof” as our invisibly installed CyLock module.
