Under the module settings in the App you will find the function / button: ‘Module test’. This can be used to check whether the module has been correctly installed in the handlebar and/or whether it functions correctly.
To complete the assembly of the module in the handlebar
The last step after the registrtion process and mounting of the module, is a function test of the installed module in the handlebar. This is to be done in close vicinity to the bicycle (CyLock menu – BLE symbol = white) and outside (to be able to get GPS signals). After pressing the “Module test” button, the module determines its position via GPS and transmits the values via mobile network (NB IoT). If the test is successful, it is ensured that there is no installation error and that the module functions correctly.
For manual function check
If you have reason to doubt whether the module continues to function correctly (e.g. after a battery change), you can also carry out the module test manually by pressing the “Module test” button.
A component of the module test is the determination of the GPS positions. In order to ensure that a position determination via GPS is also possible in principle, the module test with the bicycle can only take place outdoors (i.e. outside) and should be carried out in the immediate vicinity of the bicycle (CyLock menu: BLE symbol = white).
In the future, a feature of the NB IoT mobile network standard will be that it will be possible to determine a position even without GPS. If this feature is available, we will then integrate it.
The big advantage is that it will then also be possible to determine the position within buildings or vehicles, which is unfortunately not possible with GPS-based solutions.
